Ancient Afrikan Creation Stories Every Black Person Needs to Know

Afrikan creation stories hold the keys to understanding who we are and where we come from. Too long, our people have been handed foreign cosmologies as if Afrikan thought never existed. However, the truth is clear — our ancestors developed profound, sophisticated accounts of divinity and nature long before colonization rewrote history. Furthermore, reclaiming these accounts is not academic exercise. It is liberation work.

Ɔbenfo Ọbádélé Bakari Kambon, world-renowned Pan-Afrikan linguist and architect of Abibitumi, presents the second installment of his Foundations of Kmtyw (Black) Thought Mini Course. In this powerful lecture, he moves through eight distinct Afrikan traditions with precision and depth. Most importantly, he centers Afrikan people as the originators of thought about divinity and existence. This is Abibifahodie — liberation through knowledge of self.

Afrikan Creation Stories Across Eight Traditions: Kemet, Yoruba, Dogon, and Beyond

This course covers Classical Kemet, the Bambara of Mali, the Yoruba of Nigeria, the Kuba of Zaire, the Dogon of Mali, the Fon of Benin, the Igbo of Nigeria, and the Songye of Zaire. As a result, students gain a sweeping yet grounded view of how Afrikan peoples understood the beginning of all things. In addition, each tradition reinforces a common truth — Afrikan thought is vast, unified in spirit, and deeply intelligent. Therefore, this course does not just inform. It transforms.

Abibitumi exists to place tools of liberation directly in the hands of Afrikan people globally. This self-paced video lecture is accessible, affordable, and rooted in Kmtyw scholarship. Whether you are a student, a parent raising conscious children, or a community builder seeking deeper grounding, this course speaks to you. Furthermore, at only $30, there is no barrier between you and this knowledge. Thus, the question is simple — will you claim what has always been yours?
