The 1619 Myth Exposed: Afrikan Rebellion and Freedom Predate the Colonial Narrative

Afrikan rebellion before 1619 is not a footnote — it is the foundation. Most people have been taught that 1619 marks the beginning of the Afrikan story in the western hemisphere. However, that starting point is a deliberate misorientation. In truth, our ancestors were already resisting, winning, and building free communities long before that date was ever selected.
In 1526, enslaved Afrikans at San Miguel de Guadalupe in what was called Spanish Florida launched a successful rebellion. As a result, they drove off the Spanish colonizers and became permanent settlers. Furthermore, throughout the 1500s and into the early 1600s, formerly enslaved Afrikans established the first free Black republics of the modern era in the western hemisphere. Most importantly, these facts precede 1619 by nearly a century. The colonial record buried these victories — but they happened.
Ɔbenfo Kambon Dismantles the Afrikan Rebellion Before 1619 Deception
Ɔbenfo Ọbádélé Bakari Kambon — Pan-Afrikan linguist, scholar, and architect of Abibitumi — delivers this truth with precision and power. His lecture, part of the Abibitumi Exclusive Seminar Series, traces the misorientation back even further to 1441. In addition, he shows how the arbitrary selection of 1619 serves a specific ideological function. It erases Afrikan agency. It shortens our historical memory. Consequently, it keeps Black people disoriented about who we are and what we have already accomplished.
This recording includes both the full video lecture and the accompanying slides. Therefore, scholars, students, parents, and community builders all gain a complete learning experience. Abibifahodie — Black Liberation — demands that we correct the historical record. Moreover, it demands that we build our understanding on truth, not on colonial convenience. This lecture gives our community the tools to do exactly that. The work of Abibitumi exists to equip Afrikan people globally with liberating knowledge. This presentation is one of its finest examples. Watch it, study it, and share it widely.
