Gandhi Was a Racist: What Dr. King Didn’t Know But We Must

Gandhi was a racist

Gandhi was a racist — and that truth is now reshaping monuments, movements, and memory across the globe. For generations, Black people were handed a carefully edited version of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. His image was polished. His racism was buried. As a result, even giants like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. revered him without knowing the full story. However, we know now. Furthermore, we have a responsibility to act on what we know.

Gandhi openly despised Afrikan people during his time in South Africa. He called us “kaffirs.” He fought for Indian rights while actively working to keep Afrikans subordinate. In addition, his personal conduct revealed deeply disturbing behavior — including sexual experiments with young women in his care. These are not rumors. These are documented facts. Most importantly, Afrikan scholars and communities worldwide are no longer staying silent about them.

Why Gandhi Was a Racist — And Why Statues Are Falling Across the Afrikan World

Statues of Gandhi have been removed or protested in Ghana, Zambia, Malawi, and beyond. Ɔbenfo Ọbádélé Bakari Kambon — Pan-Afrikan linguist, scholar, and founder of Abibitumi — delivered a precise and unflinching lecture on this very subject. He recorded this powerful presentation on September 30, 2020, speaking directly from Ghana, one of the sites of statue removal. Ɔbenfo Kambon does not soften the truth. Instead, he arms our community with documented history and sharp analysis. This is Abibifahodie — Black liberation through knowledge, clarity, and action.

This lecture includes both video and slides, making it an essential resource for students, educators, and community builders. You will walk away with a full picture of Gandhi’s record — his writings, his actions, and his ideology. Moreover, you will understand exactly why the movement to remove his statues is not controversy. It is correction. Our people deserve monuments that honor our liberation, not figures who worked against us. Watch this lecture, share it with your community, and build on the truth Ɔbenfo Kambon has laid before us.
